Sunday, August 23, 2009, 1:01 PM Script Teacher- wei en Bowing student- Max Rude student- qiyun Ankle sock student- jie wei Present student- russell Narrator- brian koo High socks- Max, qiyun, Russell, YL, Brian Ankle socks- Sean, Kelvin Narrator: Ah, school – a wonderful place where wonderful things happen. Ranging from the janitors to our principal, school is a chance for us to meet different kinds of people who play different roles in our daily lives. Teachers, of course, are a vital part of school. They teach us not only rainforests and algebra, but they also teach us values which will guide us in our lives. It is only appropriate that we take the time and have the courtesy to express our gratitude towards our teachers – the role models we look up to. Therefore, please enjoy this original skit put up by my class, entitled – Our School, Our Teachers. Narrator: Besides the tests and lessons we have everyday, many other things happen in our daily school lives. One important example is Greeting. It is an unwritten rule in Hwa Chong to bow to a teacher when you walk pass them. But what does bowing actually mean? These are a few examples of what students tend to do. Example 1: (student walks into scene, don’t look at teacher and walks by) Such insolence! Of course, that is not what teachers want. However, neither do they want this. (student walks in. Sees the teacher. Salutes teacher. Bows low and shout good morning sir! After that, student walks away.) Did you all catch that? I doubt you all did. Okay i shall rewind this scene and let you look at it again! (Student walks backwards. Do that again) Isn’t that kind of retarded? Now, we shall look at an acceptable bow. (student walks in. sees teacher. Stops. Bows. Teacher nods head in acknowledgement. Walk away.) Example 2: The 2nd example that we will be bringing up today is the way students talk to their teachers. Let’s take a look at the rudest example – Example One. Student: Eh Mr Lim ah, my science assignment never do. Tomorrow I pass up can right? Teacher: No Student: Huh what? Why cannot? Never mind lor, den i don’t pass up. Narrator: That would mean not showing any form of respect for the teacher at all. How could a teacher tolerate such unruliness from a student? This would lead to a breakdown in relationships between teachers and students. Example 2 would be the other extreme end, which isn’t too good either. Student: My handsome Mr Lim, I am extremely and very and sincerely sorry that I have not done my assignment which has been due for a mere 1 day. I understand that my tardiness reflects badly on my personal character, however, is it possible, kind sir, to allow me to have an extension of a single day? I am sure that a person of such graciousness would understand my situation, thus I would be really happy if you grant this wish of mine. Teacher: No. Student: Why my dear Mr lim? You have always been so kind? Why so different now? Narrator: That would be too extreme, wouldn’t it? This should be the way students talk to teachers. Student: Mr Lim, i’m really sorry but i could not hand in my assignment in time. Is it okay if i have a time extension? I promise i will hand in tomorrow... Teacher: No Narrator: Well, but that also does not mean that the teacher will agree.. Narrator: In general, This is an example of the simplest kind of respect a student can have for a teacher. It is simple acts like this which strengthens the bond between students and teachers and creates a perfect studying environment. Example 3: The next example that we are going to show you is your favourite. Ankle socks! If one is observant enough, one would notice many students at the terraces in the morning wearing ankle socks. They flee from discipline masters just like fugitives from police. However, we are going to show you 2 scenarios. Students tend to gain satisfaction from wearing ankle socks and escaping the teachers. They believe it looks cool. However, we beg to differ. Here is why. (students walk with ankle socks on the stage)(teacher walks in) Teacher: you stop there! Why are your socks so low? (other students notice the teachers and try their best to go past him) Narrator: Why live in constant fear of getting caught? Is it worth using demerit points to buy coolness? Now, here is what we believe in. (one student with ankle socks enter. Teacher enters. Teacher catches student) (Teacher: You stop there! Why are your socks so low) (enters 5 students with extremely high socks!) 5 students walks slowly along the guy with ankle socks. And then stares at the guy to NIAO him. Shakes heads and go Aiyoh!! Narrator: here? See that? Isn’t that so much more satisfying? Rather than living in turmoil, you live in peace without having to fear getting caught. You can walk past discipline masters and teachers in pride. Example 4: Narrator: Now, for our 4th example, we would like to show how we can offer our gratitude to our teachers. Our teachers have done many things for us in our school life. They can even be said to be our second parents. They guide us through our work, they help us in things we don’t understand, or simply, they encourage us in everything we do. Being a teacher is never easy; therefore, showing gratitude as a student is a must. This is how a student can show his appreciation for his teacher. Student: Mr Seetoh has helped me in everything I do in school. I think it’s only right that I thank him. Hope he likes this card that I made. It has a big heart shape in it. (Teacher enter stage) Student: Here Mr Seetoh, please take this card. I thank you for everything you have done and I am really grateful to have a teacher like you. Thank you. Narrator: At this moment in time, the teacher would feel touched that his efforts had not gone down the drain. His students actually appreciate his efforts and even made him a token of appreciation. I know some students in this school might dislike some of our teachers. However, it is them who made us who we are today. We must really thank or at least acknowledge their efforts. Presenting now, a tribute to all teachers by 2O2 and 1P1.		bestfriends met on january 2nd 2008. staying here forever. We are 2o2!
